On April 10, 2026, the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication at Osh State University hosted the International Scientific-Practical Conference titled "Semiotic Paradigms of Modern Philology". The event was dedicated to the scholarly achievements of Professor Zinaida Karaevna Karaeva and marked the formal conferment of the title "Honorary Professor of Osh State University" upon her.
The conference brought together a distinguished international community of researchers from Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Great Britain, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. The Rector of OshSU, Professor K.G. Kozhobekov, delivered the opening address. The working languages of the event were English, Russian, and Kyrgyz, facilitating a broad exchange of ideas on modern linguistics, sign systems, and the pragmatics of translation.
The conference proceedings were organized into three key sections:
• Section 1: Semiotic Issues in Translation Studies — Focused on sociosemiotic relevance and linguistic features in translation.
• Section 2: Paradigms of Modern Philological Education — Explored cognitive analysis, the impact of AI on language, and conceptual history.
• Section 3: Sociolinguistics and the Semiotics of Culture — Discussed linguistic identity, digital communication, and modern teaching methodologies.
A significant highlight of the conference was the focus on the digital transformation of philology, including reports on AI neologisms, neural networks in education, and the sociosemiotic nature of hybrid words in global discourse. The event concluded with the adoption of a resolution aimed at strengthening international academic cooperation and the further development of scientific schools.
