The Department of English Phonetics and Grammar of the Institute of
Philology and Intercultural Communication at Osh State University, in
cooperation with Ala-Too International University, is implementing a project
aimed at integrating the ideas of sustainable development into philological
education and foreign language teaching.
The project, launched in 2025, will continue until 2029. A total of 30
students and 15 teachers from the two higher educational institutions are
actively involved. The main goal of the project is to introduce the
principles of sustainable development into the content of philological
education, as well as to develop students’ research, analytical, and
practical skills.
In addition, Osh State University has been offering an elective course
entitled “Sustainable Development in Education” since 2018 within the
framework of the 550300 Philological Education degree program. As part of
this course, the annual “Green Week” event is regularly held.
The current results of the project were widely presented at the
International Scientific and Practical Conference “Philology, Education and
a Sustainable Future,” held on March 21, 2026. Scholars, teachers, and
researchers from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, and Russia
participated in the event and exchanged experience.
During the conference, participants emphasized the importance of combining
philological education with the goals of sustainable development and
highlighted the relevance of innovative approaches, new academic programs,
and scientific research in this field.
